Scientists of Piracicaba - Release 2001

The history of “Scientists of Piracicaba” not have a well defined beginning. It all started when Fabricio, Dinho and Erik got together to do a job in the house of Fabricio. As they were finishing the job, Fabricio Dinho brought the guitar to tune and play something, and had the idea to test how would the recording using the microphone of the PC. After berrarem some things and play the guitar, liked the idea and commented in college: "When you have finished classes, we will meet at the home of Fabricio and write some songs ". Adriano then knew as the Junior, who rang us “The Astronauts Marble”, proposed joining everyone (inclusive or or Erik and Jordan) a day to make a noise zone watered too much beer. Here began the history of Scientists of Piracicaba…

In 08/12/2000, one day after the end of classes in Unimep, was marked the first meeting of scientists Piracicaba, Junior's house, Rio Claro em. O CD "Cientistas of Piracicaba - Ao Vivo", brings together almost everything that was touched 08/12/2000, the repertoire is quite varied, there was no script, everything was played without any trial, the various errors that occur can be noticed in this CD. There was also no concern for quality, objective was to be fun or pretty. All songs were recorded on the first take. The band was: Dinho on guitar, Adriano on bass and drums in Junior. Fabricio, Erik, Adriano and Dinho took turns on vocals. The band had never guitarist and so this CD was sounding good acoustics. The audio was recorded in 2 channels (FITA K7) and video (VHS-C). Later the sound was digitized and mastered on CD, unedited and without overdubs, faithfully reproducing everything was recorded that afternoon. The CD cover is a photo of Fabricio, that was taken by Erik, I was under the effects of alcohol as we can see by the result. This day was also defined the band's name, the name "Scientists Piracicaba" - a reference to the "Engineers of Hawaii" was chosen. The name has an explanation, four of the band members: Fabricio, Erik, Adriano and Dinho attend "Computer Science" in Unimep in Piracicaba. Ao research of Cientistas, could have used the correct title, but "Bachelors in Computer Science from Piracicaba" would get even stranger… 🙂

Album: Live and In Color

Release year: 2000

Label: Animal Records

Country: Brazil

Disc No.: 1

Content: 01. I Will Survive, 02. Saturday Sun + 2 video recordings with album “Ao Vivo”

This CD brings video recording 08/12/2000. The filming was done by the band members. Later videos were digitized and released this CD in its entirety, uncut and unedited. The video highlights the humorous side of Scientists of Piracicaba in a totally uncompromising recording. O CD ainda traz 2 bonus audio tracks containing songs: "I Will Survive" and "Saturday Sun" that were not recorded on tape K7 by force majeure (the tape ended and nobody noticed). The album cover features a caricature drawn by Adriano. The faces used in the cartoon were created by Adriano to another group project (incluindo Jordan), a home-newspaper to show the "B side" of Unimep, The project ended up not being taken forward.

These assays, meetings or whatever it is started to be called by the guys in the band of "CDP" - a reference to the acronym Scientists Piracicaba - and so was branded a CDP for the day 15/12/2000, again at the home of Junior. Dinho just could not attend last minute, and not to miss the afternoon after they bought the drinks and plugged the instruments, the other guys decided to use bases in pre-recorded keyboard. The result was something like a videoke, call "Videoke of poor" because it had the lyrics in the video as the traditional videokes. The result was so strange that it was not even recorded on CD, K7 but the tapes were digitized and the result is available in MP3, a video was also recorded and later released. This CDP also had the presence of Junior on vocals, something unheard of and only returned to happen in the sixth CDP. This day was also marked by the most vocal esculachados the history of CDP, perhaps by the fact that when you do not have instruments to play is easier to hold the beer can.

Album: Volume 2

Release year: 2001

Seal: Animal Records

Country: Brazil

Content: 01. Passage of Sound, 02. Light My Fire, 03. Surfin’ U.S.A., 04. What Country Is This / Satisfaction / disorder / Ideologia, 05. Forbidden To Me I, 06. Morena Tropicana, 07. Pra Ser Sincero, 08. Down Under, 09. More Than Words, 10. Robocop Gay, 11. Twist N’Shout, 12. Dinho Drum Solo, 13. She Is Not Here, 14. The Pain Of this Love, 15. Bubbles of Love, 16. The third CDP was scheduled for 11/01/2001, once again the home of Junior. This town had the special participation of Leonardo. The band's lineup remained Dinho on guitar, Adriano on bass, Junior on drums. Erik, Fabricio, Dinho, Adriano - and Leonardo also this time - on vocals. This CDP was eventually taken more seriously, some songs were rehearsed and ended up well above average, but we noticed that we were running away from the initial proposal of Piracicaba Scientists, that was touching the head to come, just for fun, without commitment to quality. This CDP also was recorded on tape and video K7, and later digitized and released on CD, again unedited and without overdubs. The CD ended up being quite varied, alternating most serious moments and moments of pure mess such as the track "Passage of Sound", Tests show that the sound before starting. We also included two tracks from the second CDP (Videoke for Poor), showing a drum solo Fabricio and other Adriano, both of which had never played drums before. The cover has artwork Fabricio, using a collage of photos taken during the test, Adriano was the idea that inspired the cover CD of live Raimundos.

Album: Beer and Music

Release year: 2001

Seal: Animal Records

Country: Brazil

Disc No.: 1

Content: 2 vídeos com as gravações de I’ll Be There for You, Waiter, Since I Don’t Have You, Robocop Gay, It’s Raining Men, La Bamba, I’ll Survive, Forever, She Is Not Here, The Pain Of this Love, That country and this, Morena Tropicana, Theme do Rock in Rio, Down Under, Sympathy for the Devil e More Than Words

The CD "Musica Y Cerveza" brings the videos that were recorded in "Videoke the Poor" and "Volume 2". Again the videos highlight the relaxed side of banda, besides the music we play some staff. Highlights also include the song "Robocop Gay", dish where the battery falls at the very end of the song and ends with the last vestige of seriousness of the members. The cover has artwork of Adriano, with one of his cartoons.

In late January 2001, Fabricio decided to buy a guitar, trained the few chords that I already knew the acoustic guitar and learned some more. Sometime later, was scheduled for the fourth CDP 09/02/2001, this time in the house of Fabricio, because Junior was having class. In the room there were some innovations CDP: first played with guitar (but without battery due to the absence of junior). Another innovation was the first time they were able to connect the mixer directly into the PC, so that the sound was recorded digital, avoiding noise and loss of frequencies present in previous recordings (recorded in digitalized K7 and). It was also possible to ascertain the height of each instrument and microphone before touching, and as a result we had a better sound equalized. This time there was no video recording, Only a few pictures were taken. The songs on this CDP are available in MP3, but have not yet been released on CD.

The fifth and so far last occurred in CDP 04/03/2001, home of Fabricio (for the misfortune of their neighbors), this time without the presence of junior and without the presence of Erik. Again we used the mixer connected directly to the PC. Were recorded only 4 songs, which are available in MP3, but have not yet been released on CD.

After a long period of inactivity (due to school and work), in 12/07/2001 CDP reunited, this time in the house of Adriano. Finally could count on every member and every instrument: Dinho on guitar, Fabricio na guitar, Adriano on bass and drums in Junior. Everyone took turns on vocals (including Junior) and had a cameo by Tex, Also vocals. These recordings are characterized by a more electric sound and constant presence battery, contrasting with the beginning of CDP where the acoustic sound was more. Adriano did some guitar solos that were also recorded. All audio was recorded on tape and subsequently digitized K7. The songs are available in MP3. Logo will be released an album containing these materials 3 recent meetings and possibly the next.

The seventh CDP is being planned. The idea of bringing forward banda continues, maybe do a test with the presence of other guests and Giordano. There is also the possibility of doing a party with live performance, that would be an even bigger mess.

The guys also plan to record their own compositions, some are already ready to be recorded (some new and some composed by members well before the formation of banda), others need to be worked a bit further (or in the arrangement of the letters). It is probably just released a CD with his own compositions (and unpublished) two scientists of Piracicaba.

For the time being, most of the neighbors and the few "privileged" to have the opportunity to hear these songs banda think this will have much future… na Computing area. 🙂
