Mariio128: Super Nintendo gamepad (SNES) PC Buffalo (Nintendo Super Famicom SNES Gamepad for PC (PC) (BUFFALO))

Those who follow the Blog Skooter know I still have my Super Nintendo, the same as I gained my parents in my childhood there are good 23 years ago. The two joysticks (gamepads) that accompany it are also running today. With the SD2SNES - Flash Cart for Super Nintendo with SD slot and USB and the RGB SCART Cable for Super Nintendo (SNES), Super Famicom, Gamecube and Nintendo 64 (RGB Cable) Super Nintendo gained new life. Nevertheless, sometimes I still prefer to play the Super Nintendo games in HTPC I did with Zotac ZBOX ID83 Core i3-3120M 2.5GHz Intel HM76 DDR3 Wi-Fi A&V Gigabit Ethernet Mini PC Barebone System (ZBOX-ID83-U) with the emulator Snes9X, as there are games that SD2SNES does not yet support. Furthermore, same with the picture of the Super Nintendo with SCART RGB cable being much higher than the RF and the traditional composite video, the image of the emulator still has the edge because the filters that can be applied and for maintaining the aspect 4:3.

On these occasions I used to connect the two original Super Nintendo gamepads in ZBOX using a USB adapter for two SNES gamepad controls (Super Nintendo) ou SFC (Super Famicom) (SNES SFC Dual Controller Gamepad to USB Adapter)), that works perfectly. But when I saw the Super Nintendo gamepad (SNES) PC Buffalo (Nintendo Super Famicom SNES Gamepad for PC (PC) (BUFFALO)) on the Mariio128 I realized it was a great opportunity to acquire a pair of Super Nintendo gamepads for good quality PC, USB connectors, dispensing adapters and thus preserving the original gamepads the Super Nintendo, which can now be used only in the Super Nintendo and not with the emulators.

Always heard good of the Buffalo brand, so I knew that would probably be getting a quality product. The gamepads has the same format, size and placement of the buttons that the original Super Nintendo. The directional button is a little higher, better or worse depends on the player's taste, I do not see much difference. The buttons follow the pattern of the Super Famicom, the Japanese model of the Super Nintendo. Therefore, the buttons have the colors green, blue, yellow and red, instead of the blue-gray (or would bluish gray) and purple (Purple ou, I do not know) the US model (and also the Brazilian). Furthermore, in control of the Super Nintendo US / Brazilian X and Y buttons are concave, while the A and B buttons are convex. In control of the Japanese Super Famicom all buttons are convex. At first it is somewhat strange play with all convex buttons, especially not Super Mario World where it is common to hold the Y tight with the thumb tip (to make Mario run) while we use the middle part of the thumb to press the B button (to make Mario jump). But soon get used to the difference.

Both gamepads Buffalo came in their packaging, cardboard and plastic, leaving the control and the USB connector on display. In front is no indication that it works with multiple versions of Windows (View, XP, 2000, ME), que usa o DirectX 9.0c. Pecks were added to indicate the compatibility with Windows 7 and Windows 8. In Windows logo 8 there is even a QR Code encoding the URL http://86886.jp/win8. This URL points to the site of Buffalo Japan, one specifically for page with drivers for Windows 8. How is all in Japanese did not understand much. But did not find driver for gamepad there and not think it's necessary, because my Windows 8.1 recognized perfectly both gamepads and installed the necessary drivers. From there they work like any ordinary gamepad, with two axes controlled with the directional button and more 8 digital buttons: A, B, X, And, L, R, Select e Start. From there it is possible to map the buttons to work with any game or emulator with support for DirectX 9.0c, which includes Snex9X, ZSNES, among others, including other systems.

The TURBO and CLEAR buttons are a very interesting addition. With them you can program any button to work with the turbo function, in other words, by pressing the button and hold it down it's as if he were being pressed repeatedly, which is useful for gaming in which each press of the button corresponds to a shooting, or similar features. To program a button to the turbo function simply press the TURBO button and the desired button together. To return the button to normal functionality only press it with the CLEAR button. You can activate the turbo multiple buttons simultaneously, including in 8 buttons at the same time.

The instruction manual is in Chinese, but I do not think is necessary. They seem to be only instructions for installing the driver or DirectX 9.0c, which is not necessary in most modern Windows. There is a model code: BSGP801. On the back there is another code: GP-801GY, besides a serial number.
