Remember Roteador ASUS RT-AC68U Dual Band Gigabit Router 802.11ac Wireless-AC1900 (*Retail* Asus RT-AC68U 3 Antenna USB3.0 Dual Band Wireless AC1900 Gigabit Router) I acquired in eBay? Yeah! Gostei tanto que comprei mais um 🙂
Not, I do not need two routers in the same house. But as I had said there in RT-AC68U Article, the router from Netgear that I left in my parents' house had been wanting to retire for some time, so I bought one first RT-AC68U and took the RT-ač66 I had to my parents' house.
But RT-ač66 seems to have greatly enjoyed the change of environment. First one of the LAN ports crashed suddenly. A few weeks later the entire router crashed once. I decided to contact Asus to use the warranty 3 years he has. The Asus Brazil initially did not want to be responsible for equipment that is not marketed in Brazil and referred me to the ASUS service in the US. Apparently we are a backward country and do not deserve the best technologies, up here because they end up getting super-expensive due to the cost Dilma, then the Asus only has here simplest models, that still cost more to Brazilians than civilization pay for more advanced models.
The US Asus staff met me and said they would exchange, but I would have to send the product to the US, and then receive a substitute in a US address. They said to send in a friend's house, because as you know, all we Brazilians have a friend in the US, which forwards the packets with technology products from there as a thank you for bananas boxes that we sent to them, one of the few products still cost less here, for the time being…
I could even use the Shipito for this, but the cost of shipping the defective router to the US, then bring back and still run the risk of paying tax in return pushed me this idea. Is there a way to send a unit for service abroad with guaranteed not to pay taxes in return, but the Post overcharge for it, and I doubt that most of the attendants know how to do it anyway. Without this, if the product is taxed at only way would be to use a request for review of taxes and attach evidence that it was a repair or an exchange under warranty, but who can guarantee that will accept?
I decided to contact the Asus Brazil again, exposing the problem, asking a better solution, or at least they intermediassem this round trip. I also explained that there is already case law for such cases in Brazil. In these cases, decisions have been favorable to consumers, in other words, an international company which opens a subsidiary in Brazil must honor the warranty offered by the brand, even if the product is purchased in another country. The clerk initially told me that they have already talked to the Procon and the Consumer Protection Code (I can not imagine how anyone can talk to the code, but anyway…) and explained that do not offer warranty for products that are not sold here. But a few days later came back to me and said that Asus Brazil entered into an agreement with the US Asus and so agreed to receive the damaged product and refund the amount paid. The dollar value was converted to real and restated until the date of repayment. It's a shame that it seems to have been an exception, but I was pleased with the solution.
With done refund, I went to buy another RT-AC68U, which is still the Asus top notch and probably still the best domestic router. Not to move the team that is winning again went to the eBay and made the purchase with the seller again item2buy_com from the store computeraccessoriesandhardware. The current link is this one: *Retail* Asus RT-AC68U 3 Antenna USB3.0 Dual Band Wireless AC1900 Gigabit Router
The current price is $ 1,00 less than when bought the first and the freight is still free. But I did not so lucky with the IRS. The first went unharmed, but that was taxed. Our comrade Mizuta commanded contained £ 139,49, I paid at the Post Office and the value has already been duly transmitted to the government coffers to fund the next monthly allowance or some other similar dirty trick, since the collection only increases every year but nobody sees any improvement in the services provided. Anyway it was worth it, because RT-AC68U still not available in Brazil, and sellers of the free market are charging between R $ 1000,00 for the same product.
Again the seller fumbled with free adapter, the other time he sent an adapter plug with Type I (Standard Chinese / Australian / Argentinean), and this time he sent an adapter to plug type B (U.S. standard). One day he hits. 🙂 De qualquer forma continua não sendo necessário adaptador, because RT-AC68U Hong Kong comes with 3 types of plug, including serving in the Brazilian standard.
The Roteador ASUS RT-AC68U Dual Band Gigabit Router 802.11ac Wireless-AC1900 worked perfectly, and the first, and I hope you have a longer life than the late RT-ač66, that has been returned to Asus who provided his funeral or gave some other destination unknown to him.
