The game is missing: Master System II da Tec Toy, Alex Kidd in the memory cartridge and Summer Games

With the acquisition of Atari 2600 the Polyvox and the Sega Genesis modelo 1 from the U.S., together with Mega Drive III and the Super Nintendo already with me for more than 20 years, ever again have all the consoles of my childhood, except one: o Master System II da Tec Toy, version with Alex Kidd in memory and cartridge Summer Games (California Games) Toast, the box is exactly the photo below.

Of all the classic consoles, Master System is the least attractive to have a re-acquisition. In addition to the nostalgia factor, to have real console in hands, the Atari 2600 was also the opportunity to return to play Atari games 2600 no hardware real. The Sega Genesis was the opportunity to have again the games on real hardware (I had to Mega Drive III) but with a higher quality sound. But what the Master System?

The Master System games I can already play in Sega Genesis or no Mega Drive III thanks to Mega Everdrive. As the Mega Drive has the Master System as chip coprocessor, he is able to run the Master System games natively, without any emulation. And thanks to RGB SCART out, I can play them with image quality even better than you can with a real Master System Tec Toy.

Even the accessories are compatible, I use the Master System and the joystick Pistola Light Phaser. I'm even enjoying that Sega Genesis is on the CRT TV while waiting the arrival of RGB SCART cable for it (the Mega Drive III is different) to play the game Light Phaser the Master System, since this accessory works only on CRT TVs. I've mentioned before that the rental company I attended had only two games that used the Light Phaser: Gangster Town e Rambo III.

Now I can finally play other games, como Safari Hunt e Marksman Shooting, I liked enough. Too bad the shot still always leave a little more to the right than the position I really miro, and unfortunately you can not calibrate. It's the same problem I had since the early 80/90. Probably the image on the TV screen that is slightly off center screwing with the calculation that the Master System / Genesis makes. Taking this drawback is easy to say that the experience with the Light Phaser is superior to the experience with Playstation Move Sharp Shooter, which is much more modern.

The only accessory Master System that you can not use with just a Mega Drive and the Mega Everdrive is the 3D Glasses. But you can still play games that require 3D glasses in Genesis with the help of the adapter to original Master System games, the same for playing the actual cartridge Master System. I never had the 3D Glasses, so for me it does not make much difference.

But even with all this not say that I will never regain a Master System. It is a possibility since I find one in such good quality as found Sega Genesis modelo 1 from the U.S. and the Atari 2600 the Polyvox. This unfortunately is somewhat difficult. A quick look on eBay and found only models without box and / or missing accessories and / or in poor condition. É uma pena 🙁

Ah, it is noteworthy that with respect to the image, o Master System modelo 1 US is likely to be used with an RGB cable, because the output A / V it is a plug DIN, such that the Sega Genesis modelo 1 from the U.S.. Mas a Tec Toy, who knows why reason, put only 2 plugs RCA, one for audio and one for video. There is a DIN plug in the domestic console, but he is bizonhamente used to connect the power supply. It is the only source of power I see using plug DIN. How silly was that huh Tec Toy?

If I had a Master System today, certainly let him connected to CRT TV with A / V cable to take advantage of the Pistola Light Phaser, and leave the Sega Genesis modelo 1 from the U.S. with RGB SCART out for the other games in LCD TV with receiver 7.1. The RGB output would not lack in CRT TV, then for this purpose okay to have the model of Tec Toy of my childhood that has only composite video.

Moreover, with the imminent release of PowerBase Mini FM by Stone Age Gamer, becomes interesting to have this accessory and a Master Everdrive to enjoy the FM sound of some Master System games, because only the Japanese Master System has the sound chip FM natively and the Mini FM PowerBase with the built-in FM chip will bring the possibility for any Mega Drive.

And you, think it is worth having a Master System? Leave your opinion in the comments.

Legal Skooter, I also bought an American Genesis a few months ago. At the end of this month I caught one Everdrive for me to kill miss those old little games. You just taking a doubt my, because I did not know that the Master of accessories also worked in Mega. Incredibly, Light Phaser Pistol is the only thing I have left the old Master System. As the Genesis Everdrive wheel with the Master games, do not think of buying a Master again.

I also left the Master System in the late wishlist for now. My priority now is a XRGB-mini Framemeister. After the Mini FM PowerBase I mentioned there in Article.

Good night!! I follow your site/channel a long time, that is very good.

    Thanks

      Good night Eduardo,

I don't use the Master System in Framemeister. I leave it plugged in a CRT TV just for the gun games. On the other hand, o Framemeister só aceita imagem RGB na entrada RGB, the composite video signal he uses only for synchronization. He's picking up the composite video signal of your Master System to synchronize, but is expecting the image via RGB. You can bind the Master System from Tec Toy in Framemeister through the composite video input, then it should work properly.
