I said in a previous post I like to put here solutions to problems I have on my PC, as it is often difficult to find the solution, and once solved if I did not write down, the problem happens again in the future and I do not even remember how to solve. Putting on the blog is a way for me to note, first to myself, and also to help others who may have the same problem.
The problem of time is with the DVD recorder Samsung, modelo SH-S182F, whose quality test (scan) using Nero DiscSpeed is disabled by default, giving the impression that it does not support scans, but this is not true.
The solution came from the forum CDFreaks. It did not work exactly as it is there, but basically search for this entry in the Windows registry 64 bits:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesVirtualStoreMACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeaheadNero ToolkitCD SpeedCD Quality]
Or this entry in the Windows registry 32 bits:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREaheadNero ToolkitCD SpeedCD Quality]
Once found, just remove what is in red. In my case the same entry was elsewhere beyond local machine, but it was not difficult to remove and also from there is possible to make beautiful scans with Nero DiscSpeed, like the one below:
The tip should also apply to other Samsung drives with Mediatek chipset.
Update: the tip still applies to Windows 7 and or Black 9. The key location is now:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareNeroNero 9Nero ToolkitNero DiscSpeedCD Quality]
