Play-Asia: RGB SCART Cable for Super Nintendo (SNES), Super Famicom, Gamecube and Nintendo 64 (RGB Cable)

Hello Skooter Blog readers, Today I talk about a RGB SCART Cable for Super Nintendo (SNES), Super Famicom, Gamecube and Nintendo 64 (RGB Cable) acquired on Play-Asia.

After giving new life to my Super Nintendo with SD2SNES, nothing better than to also replace the old audio and composite video cable by a SCART RGB cable, providing the best possible image to be obtained with the Super Nintendo hardware, with much greater clarity than the composite video. With the aid of the SCART Video Converter + HDMI to HDMI (SCART + HDMI to HDMI Video Converter – Black) I can connect them to modern TVs through HDMI with upscale to 1080p.

My Genesis had already won an image upgrade with an RGB SCART cable. Now its the Super Nintendo time with the RGB SCART Cable for Super Nintendo (SNES), Super Famicom, Gamecube and Nintendo 64. In my Super Nintendo, which is from US, but transcoded for PAL-M, it worked perfectly. Even though my Super Nintendo has some deffect (probably introduced in the transcoding process) in which the image loses the colors momentarily for some time (after a few minutes with the console turned on, the problem disappears), and using the SCART RGB cable the defect no longer appears. This problem also does not occur with the RF cable, so went unnoticed when I won the console in the early 90. I only notice it when I had my first TV with composite video input, but then the warranty was already expired. With the SCART RGB cable I was free of this problem.

I also tested the RGB SCART Cable for Super Nintendo (SNES) in a Brazilian Super Nintendo, by Playtronics, and it also worked perfectly. According to Play-Asia, this SCART RGB cable also works on Super Famicom (the Japanese Super Nintendo), the Gamecube only in its PAL version, which should be rare in Brazil, and Nintendo 64, with the exception that only RGB only works with changes in the cable, otherwise it should work only for composite video (which is also present in the SCART cables), but then there is no advantage. But at least in both the American and the Brazilian Super Nintendo, that are popular here, it sure works.

The quality difference is quite remarkable. Look, for example, the photo of the games list from the SD2SNES which is this article, using RGB video, with the one on SD2SNES article, using composite video. The RGB image is much sharper. I put also some screen shots to illustrate the improvement in one of the most popular games of the Super Nintendo, the Super Mario World.

I connected the RGB SCART Cable for Super Nintendo (SNES), Super Famicom, Gamecube and Nintendo 64 on the SCART cables switch 4 to 1 (Professional Scart cable switch box Quality 1 - 4 way), so I can use a single SCART Video Converter + HDMI to HDMI (SCART + HDMI to HDMI Video Converter – Black) for both consoles (Mega Drive and Super Nintendo), and currently also the Playstation One, also connected through SCART RGB, but I will leave this topic for another article.

The packet came described as containing “video cable” com declared value of U.S. $ 2,00 and declared weight of 110 grams. It came marked “Merchandise” (Merchandise). It was not taxed. And I'm ending here with a very positive recommendation for the RGB SCART Cable for Super Nintendo (SNES), Super Famicom, Gamecube and Nintendo 64, who gave new life to my Super Nintendo, and also for the Play-Asia. If you also want to buy games and video game accessories in Play-Asia, directly from Hong Kong, click here and good shopping. Recommend this article to your friends if you like. 😉

Skooter not remember in which post you said you put the SCART cable in the nintendo 64 and did not show any change in the image, I found that you have to put a chip (amplifier) THS7314 order to enable RGB.

Olá Skooter, The cable is available in the Play-Asia website, but I found on this link:
http://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/super-nintendo-ntsc-rgb-av-scart-cable-av-lead-cord-for-sale.html

However I have no doubt about the customization options are on the right side. What should I choose between “Composite Video” and “Composite Sync” ? And among “Euroconnec-” and “JP21”, which I choose to be compatible with video converter that you addressed in this article?
If you know, gives a force ai.
