A Matriz 1080p HDMI-LINK MI LM-MX03 – 4 Articles / 2 Outputs (LINK MI LM-MX03 1080p HDMI Matrix – Black (4-In / 2-Out)), acquired on DX – DealExtreme, is a device that allows you to connect up to 4 devices with HDMI output and select any of them (same or different) to display up to 2 HDMI input with equipment. It is a solution for both connect more equipment when the number of HDMI inputs is limited, which is the function of a switch (switch) HDMI; and is also a solution for connecting an HDMI equipment in more than one TV, or a TV and a projector, etc., What is the function of a divider (splitter) HDMI. But with HDMI Matrix you can do all of this at the same time freely selecting any of the four inputs independently for the two outputs. And all without having to connect / disconnect any cables and the comfort of a remote control.
And for what I need a HDMI Matrix? I'll explain. With the acquisition of Playstation 4, a problem arose: lack of HDMI ports on my receiver, do Home Theater in-a-box Onkyo HT-S5400. He has 4 HDMI inputs, but all were already fully occupied by: at Blu-ray player, at WD TV Live, the Playstation 3, and the Zotac ZBOX ID83 Core i3-3120M 2.5GHz Intel HM76 DDR3 Wi-Fi A&V Gigabit Ethernet Mini PC Barebone System (ZBOX-ID83-U). With the help of the resource Audio Return Channel, I still connect on TV plus the Sky receiver and the SCART Video Converter + HDMI to HDMI, that is connected to the SCART cables switch 4 to 1 (Professional Scart cable switch box Quality 1 - 4 way), which in turn is connected to my Mega Drive, to my Super Nintendo, and to my Playstation One.
The TV also has a free HDMI port, but unfortunately it only passes audio PCM and Dolby by ARC. Place a source with DTS audio and she just does not pass. Then the TV inputs are restricted to devices that do not use DTS. This is the case SCART cables switch, that only uses PCM, and also the Sky receiver, que usa PCM e Dolby, but not DTS. The 4 equipment connected to the Onkyo can send audio DTS, then can not be connected directly to the TV.
To make matters worse, one of the HDMI inputs Onkyo pifou. Began to fail eventually and one day stopped working. Send the receiver to an authorized dealer in the capital using the Post Office service is an option, but I will leave it for when something irremediable, for I fear that the price of repair is prohibitive, in addition to the shipping costs of return. Less bad than HDMI Matrix was already on the way when the problem occurred, and would have to use it anyway.
Note that I didn’t necessarily need a HDMI Matrix, for I have no use for the second exit, one would suffice. Could have acquired only one HDMI switch at half the price, including a more input. But I was left behind because I didn't meet the specification for the LM-SW04. Do not know if it would work with 3D or deep color, for example. The LM-MX03 has a more complete specification described on the DX. Therefore, I already knew that he could handle deep color with 30/36 bits, high definition audio such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, 1080p 3D, etc. This was the reason for opting for it even though it didn’t need all the resources of a HDMI Matrix.
It is worth remembering that I also already knew the LINK-MI brand from Transmitter Set + Receiver Extender HDMI-LINK MI LM-EX11 (LINK MI LM-EX11 HDMI Extender Transmitter + Receiver Set – Black). So it seems to me to be a trusted brand, so I dismissed several other switches of other brands (or unbranded) available from DX.
A Matriz 1080p HDMI-LINK MI LM-MX03 – 4 Articles / 2 Outputs came in well reinforced cardboard box of LINK-MI, which is a generic box for all products with a sticker indicating which is the product that is inside the box. Inside it is well protected HDMI Matrix, the source with plug Type A (U.S. standard), the instruction manual, and the remote-controlled, which operates with CR2025 battery included.
The equipment is all-metal, appearing quite robust. On the front there is the IR receiver for remote control, two buttons, one to select the input for each output, sequentially (on the remote control for 8 so that the desired input buttons can be selected directly). Also at the front there 10 LEDs, 5 Red and 5 Blue, each color corresponding to one of two outputs. The first of each group indicates whether the device connected to the output in question is connected. The other 4 indicate which input is selected for each output. The light from LEDs, in particular red, is quite strong and can be annoying if HDMI Matrix is too close to the TV. The two exits are on each side of the HDMI Matrix, while the inputs are at the rear. The 5V supply inlet is on the left.
Installed to HDMI Matrix, The results were mixed. Of the tested equipment, the WD TV Live and the Zotac ZBOX ID83 worked perfectly. On the other hand, the Playstation 4 it didn't work very well, failing to detect that the TV was 3D and offering this option in games. Also happened to catch and you need a hard reset, so I ruled out the possibility of connecting it to the HDMI Matrix. I also noticed that my BD-Player Playstation 4 would lose the functionality of controlling the receiver and the TV, including linking them automatically and can be selected and linked through their own TV menus, something to do with the BRAVIA ™ Sync and CEC (Consumer Electronics Control), devices supported by Sony: TV, BD Player, and Playstation 4; and also for the receiver Onkyo. Therefore BD Player and Playstation 4 were elected to be directly linked to the receiver.
So it was left to the HDMI Matrix the WD TV Live and the Zotac ZBOX ID83, that as I mentioned earlier worked perfectly with her, beyond Playstation 3. The latter is the one that also presented some problems with the HDMI Matrix. It works well most of the time, but when leaving a game or application back to the menu screen and the sound begin to fail. It is the time usually occurs change resolution, 720p most games to 1080p on the menu, maybe this is related to the problem. The way I found to do the HDMI Matrix to return to work correctly is to switch to some other entry and then return to the entry where the Playstation is connected 3. Thus the screen and the sound back to normal. Another alternative is to wait a few minutes and eventually returned to normal without doing anything. Apparently the problem is not related to cables and still have not found a solution.
