Playstation One: Packaging and Accessories. And some PCs…

I will not say this is the last article in the series, I had already said this in the Super Nintendo, but then appeared the items to make the article on the Atari 2600. Maybe end up appearing other, then this article on the Playstation One is the “last of the series for now”. The first in the series was the Mega Drive III, then take a look there to find out the motivation of these articles.

The Playstation One is not exactly my favorite, and all my consoles is the least played last and the least game today. The subject should become clearer in the following paragraphs. The Playstation One was my first console adulthood and the first that was myself who bought. Not just bought at launch, but only years later, when the Playstation 2 until now had been launched.

The fact is that by the time the Playstation was released I was already more interested in computers, that were new to me. The first was a 286 in 1994, CGA monitor, without sound card, no no joystick mouse. Of course, the games I could play with this configuration were no big deal, and were below the games of Super Nintendo and Mega Drive. But the fact that you can simply copy the games from colleagues was a great bonus, video games and ended up sideways, em favor de jogos como Street Rod e Kings of the Beach.

Then came a 486, VGA monitor. A little later came my first multimedia kit, which included a sound card Sound Blaster 16. Came also a computer with NexGen processor that delayed my life because the very weak graphic coprocessor prevented me to take advantage of graphics card. He was even better than an equivalent Pentium for office applications, but terrible for games. After them came the Voodoo 2, one Diamond Viper. Ultimately, this time I acquired the Playstation One, I was on the computer playing games like Need For Speed in 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768, resolution much higher than the Playstation could offer on a CRT TV.

It was there that I played in 2003

The Gravis Gamepad Pro, was probably one of the best joysticks of the time and one of my first imports

Especially the Gravis GamePad Pro, was probably one of the best joysticks of the time and one of my first imports

Over time my PCs were always improving, after all I work with them, then have a good PC gaming was just a consequence of having a good PC for work. At most had to buy a video card, but with the release of CUDA to this changed. With the arrival of LCD monitors, the graphics of the games I played on the PC was far ahead of even the Playstation 2, because the CRT TV was the factor that limited. I know that plasma TVs and LCD probably existed at the time, but it was a much larger investment than the LCD monitor. Also the monitor was also used to work, unlike TV.

In 2006, had done some upgrades

As séries Need for Speed, Grand Prix and Nascar were also among my favorites. Panned promotion of these 3 there, in 3 different stores, the FINAD Fenasoft.

The acquisition of the Playstation One in the middle of the last decade turned out to be just a way to have a game to play at any time without major disruptions, because the PC had the inconvenience of facilities, incompatibilities, and the fact that often I wanted to play but could not because the PC was working on something for me that I could not stop. Among the games that are played Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo 2, Ridge Racer Type 4, Silent Hill, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, Re Volt, e RC de Go, just to name a few.

I think there were not many games Playstation One until I lose interest again, and only meet him when I had the opportunity to bring a Playstation 3 U.S., in 2009, initially to serve as a Blu-Ray Player with the ability to play with a “extra”, because when a Blu-ray player from Sony cost the same price as the Playstation 3 USA. By now had a Full-HD LCD TV, then the disadvantage of the resolution of the games disappeared. After I met shops as eStarland and OfferHouse, and the rest is pretty much the story of Skooter Blog.

But the Playstation One was kept, gained new life with a RGB SCART out, and is now installed and ready to be played when hitting some miss the games I mentioned up there, and possibly other. Behold the box and manuals him. Unfortunately the box has come a little detonated, probably due to the trip she made to Brazil before I buy it in the store.

Edited (10/09/2014): Adding here three photos of the Playstation One console. On the underside the stamp of guarantee the store indicates the exact date on which it was acquired – 18/01/2002. There also appears another seal of approval, I do not know if it's the Paraguayan store or who transcodificou / unlocked the console. Also idea who “Ko”. Is it the(a) Sacoleiro(a)? I would love that these people understand what it is for a serial number. Paraguayans put security tags to over processors, Tools that any possibility of sink function properly if not removed. Would not it be easier to simply mark the serial number of the products that came out of his shop? And maybe take a little card guarantee which contains the model name / product, serial number and date?

Face, very cool. As you is a few years younger than me, apparently (I have 38), I've worked there a long time when I bought the PS1. I lived and the generation of 16 bits, and although he had one Mega and SNES, always preferred to play on the Amiga, do not know if you come to know, a computer was 16 bits (after 32 bits) that was very successful in Europe and was beeeem better than a PC. Good, when it appeared the 3DO and the Jagcrap, I immediately saw that it was check-groundlessness, Jaguar, not deliver anything worthwhile, and 3DO, costing an expensive nonsense here in BANANIA (699 dollars in the US release, imagine here). You bought a type 2 NeoGeo games and, the price of a 3DO. And the games also not convinced. Good, I bought magazines imported from 87, by ai, and I learned very early the Playstation-X, e do Sega Saturn. And it was evident how much better the PSX was. In the week of Christmas 94, I was a video store in Campinas who had a PSX, had just arrived, played Ridge Racer, freaked out. I talked to the guy who wanted to buy a,… Read more»
