This Tab or TV and FM Combiner 75 Ohms Cabletronix FMTVS (Tv/FM Separator or combiner off air TV signals from FM signals FMTVS 75 OHMS NEW) serves to separate the VHF and UHF TV signal FM radio signal into a single cable, or to join VHF and UHF TV signals and FM radio that are in separate cables.
To better explain the functioning, I will speak first of all some of my settings. I have a pair of external antennas in my house, a VHF (Log Periodic antenna VHF PQVT-3004 ProEletronic) and a UHF (Log Periodic UHF outdoor antenna PQ45-1300 ProEletronic), to tune the channels of terrestrial broadcast TV (digital and analog). Both signal passes through a mixer and descends by a conduit.
I initially used this sign only for the tv. But note that the frequency of the FM radio, 88~ 108 MHz, lies between the low and high VHF bands. VHF channels 2 a 6 occupy the 54 MHz a 88 MHz, While the VHF channels 7 a 13 occupy the 174 a 216 MHz. It, in case you're curious, in the space that's left between 108 MHz and 174 MHz for tracks used in aircraft navigation and communication, amateur radio frequency (144 MHz a 148 MHz), radio bands used in services (police, fire department, etc.), among others.
But what matters here, is that a good total band VHF antenna typically is also a good FM antenna, Since not only the frequencies are similar, as the FM range is immediately adjacent to the VHF low and below the high VHF, so that the VHF antennas typically also cover this track.
One day I decided to connect the cable that comes from the antennas directly in my Receiver Yamaha RX-A830 and noticed that it took a good amount of FM radio. But, If I pass the antenna for my VHF/UHF signal amplifier (at VHF Line amplifier / UHF 30dB Bivolt – PQAL-3000 Proeletronic) and then turn it on Receiver Yamaha RX-A830, He goes on to get more FM stations still, but only those who are on lower tracks. Clearly this my amplifier filters the FM frequency, What is normal, as these frequencies could disrupt the TV signal. The lower bands are very close the channel 6 and so are little alleviated, but the highest end up totally attenuated.
The solution I found was to place a signal splitter, like Holland GHS-2, before the amplifier, so that the antenna signal goes directly to the splitter, a output goes to the VHF Line amplifier / UHF and the other goes to the Receiver Yamaha RX-A830. Then I improved the setting, adding a booster I was standing between the splitter and the Receiver. This booster has a key to select if the FM radio signal should be thrown (FM Trap). Just select not to discard it, and then the Receiver went on to pick up even more stations.
The only problem in my setup is that how the dividers Holland GHS-2 divide the signal with a -3 loss, 5dB. That loss would be negligible after the amplifier, but before the amplifier is not nice to be having many losses. Furthermore, Just divide the signal is not the best solution, as the FM signal will be disposed shortly thereafter by VHF Line amplifier / UHF, and the VHF and UHF signal will not be taken advantage of by Receiver.
That is where it comes the Tab or TV and FM Combiner 75 Ohms Cabletronix FMTVS. It receives the signal from the antenna and rather than split it equally, He picks up FM radio frequencies and puts in a way out, get the VHF and UHF TV frequencies and put it in another way. Unfortunately I couldn't find specifications for attenuation due to the insertion loss, but it is certainly something below the -3, 5dB, probably in the range of -0,5DB a -1, 5dB, as is common in diplexers, for example.
I couldn't find any device of this type in Brazil, so I had to check abroad. I found Tab or TV and FM Combiner 75 Ohms Cabletronix FMTVS in Amazon and no eBay, being that on Amazon was cheaper, so my purchase was there. The package came by iParcel (the UPS) until the Brazil and then was forwarded by PAC. Arrived in just 12 days. The deposit for taxes was $ 15,50, more to Amazon repaid $ 5,50 the day after the arrival of the package, which leads me to believe that for some reason was not charged GST was charged or not freight tax. In Brazil you pay a lot of taxes that is until a surprise when the extortion is a bit smaller than expected, though still too high.
Installed Tab or TV and FM Combiner 75 Ohms Cabletronix FMTVS and it is working perfectly.
It is not my case, então não testei essa alternativa.
