Goggles4U: G4U Glasses 79012 with lenses 1.56 Photochromic Gray

Ha cerca de 3 anos eu falava aqui no Skooter Blog sobre o meu último par de óculos adquiridos na Goggles4U, the Nike Flexon 4182 045 com slow Essilor Transitions 1.67. And in these 3 years they were with me most of the time, except nas vezes em que usei lentes de contato ou que estava dormindo, obviously. 🙂

Também estão começando a ficar amareladas, What inevitably happens with acrylic and polycarbonate lenses after a few years. But the dimming/brightening effect still appears to be intact, running as fast as when it was new.

I remembered then that I still had $ 57,70 de crédito com a Goggles4U, they gave me as a bonus after the antics that have made in my last purchase. To help even more, atualmente a Goggles4U está com o cupom G4U40, giving 40% on the value of the glasses and the lens. I decided to use this credit to purchase a new pair of glasses without having to spend anything.

A lot seems to have changed at Goggles4U since 2013. Currently the focus of them seems to be just the generic frames, with prices ranging from $ 6,95 a US$ 19,95, the discounts are between $ 4,17 e US$ 11,97. There is still a section of brand name frames, but Subrashii is the only brand that's left and all the frames in this section are for $ 39,90.

It also appears that closed the factory of the United States, having been only with factories in Thailand and Pakistan. That's not all bad, because who made the whole mess with my last request were just Americans. The Pakistanis worked like a charm on my first pair of glasses com a Goggles4U.

The selection of lenses is also reduced. The options for those who want to distance lenses are:

  • 1.57 Cr39 Lenses +$0.00
  • 1.57 Premium CR39 Lens with EMI +$23.00
  • 1.61 High Index Lenses +$32.95
  • 1.67 High Index Lenses +$47.95
  • 1.56 Photocromic Grey +$32.95
  • 1.56 Brown Photocromic +$32.95

As I have myopia and astigmatism, distance lenses realize my problem. Goggles4U also has reading lenses, bifocals and progressive lenses, but lets talk about them on another occasion. All lenses have UV protection (ultraviolet) and anti-scratch by default, without any additional charge. Goggles4U does not inform the brand of lenses that are used, simply saying that they use your own brand of lenses.

Then, I'll talk a little about each of the options of lenses for distance. All are acrylics, because Goggles4U no longer makes polycarbonate lenses. For those who don't know the difference, the polycarbonate lenses are more resistant, but acrylic lenses have less chromatic aberration, In addition to permit higher rates. The Crystal lenses also are no longer an option, but this probably applies to almost all optics.

The first choice of lenses, 1.57 Cr39 Lenses, free Nos! You pay only for the frame. Are the most common acrylic lenses. Can be dyed, without additional cost, in black, Brown, blue, green, Grey, yellow or pink, for those who want to grade sunglasses. For each color you can choose between three levels of intensity: clear, medium and dark, or even a shade gradient, It starts at the top of the lens and dark will lighten until you reach the bottom. Anti-glare protection can be added, If you opt for transparent lenses, for $ 4,95.

The second option, 1.57 Premium CR39 Lens with EMI, It is similar to the first, but has EMI protection, recommended for those who work with computer or watch too much TV. Costs $ 23,00 and may also have added another $ anti-reflective 4,95.

The third option, 1.61 High Index Lenses, is high and recommended for those who have higher degrees, because the lens is thinner. Come out for $ 32,95 and the anti-glare may be included for free.

The fourth option, 1.67 High Index Lenses, has even bigger index, leaving the lenses even thinner. Are those used in the My first pair of glasses. Come out for $ 47,95 and the anti-glare may also be included for free.

Por fim, in the fifth and sixth choices, We have the lenses, 1.56 Photocromic Grey and 1.56 Brown Photocromic, What are photochromic lenses in gray and Brown, respectively. They are dark with sunshine and are transparent at night and indoors. In Brazil are known popularly by Transitions, but note that this is a registered trademark of photochromic lenses from Essilor, and this is why this name does not appear on the Goggles4U website. Photochromic lenses come out for $32.95 and anti-reflection can also be included for free.

Note that all these are prices without the discount. Then, When you apply the coupon G4U40, All lenses will also 40% discount on the values cited.

I ended up opting for the G4U frame 79012, U.S. $ 19,95 (US$ 11,97 with discount), now sold out. She is almost all-metal, except for one detail in the hinges and the finials (part that fits on the ears) that are in.

As to lenses, I opted for 1.56 Photocromic Grey, because I liked my first glasses with Transitions lens. Even not getting dark inside of car (because the windshield filters out UV rays which serve to activate the lenses), photochromic lenses break a good branch when we are outdoors. Cost $32.95, that with the rebate is for $ 19,77.

My request was then $ 52,90, including the frame and photochromic lenses. By applying the discount of 40% the coupon G4U40, was only $ 31,74.

At the time of my purchase, the only shipping option was expressed, costing $ 25,00. The shipment was made by Fedex Priority, coming in just 5 calendar days! And with taxes all paid by Goggles4U!

But as all too much of a good thing, This shipping option no longer exists. Now the only shipping offered is the default, that costs $ 9,95. The glasses go first to the U.S., in a few days, and then are sent to Brazil by USPS First Class.

According to Goggles4U, They stopped offering the express freight because taxes were getting too expensive. I noticed that they declared $ 4,00 in my application, and paid R$ 15,66 Tax. I believe that in other cases the IRS has refereed value greater and the store got the injury. Unfortunately, Once again the Government of Brazil in extorting more and more without offering anything in return, and ending with any option to live with more dignity. Also according to Goggles4U, There is no default freight tax which is the only current option. But I don't know if she really comes and not what is the trick for not taxing the USPS First Class.

When I heard that the shipment had been made by Fedex I immediately thought: Putz, I'm going to have to pay the entire order amount, saved by having the store credit, in taxes for Dilma and Alckmin. So I was immensely happy when I saw the trace that the package had been delivered without any charge. Check out trace information:

It was very fast. The package came out of Pakistan, past the United Arab Emirates, Italy, United States and came to Brazil and in my hands in just 5 days. And that because it was “only” the Fedex Priority, Despite the envelope used have been the Fedex Express, It should be even faster. Sand there was no Government to disrupt, all our orders from overseas would arrive much faster, as in the first world.

The package came a stamp that taxes were paid by the sender. the voucher with all taxes paid also came on the outside of the package.

The glasses came in the box of Goggles4U, sturdy plastic and lined with velvet fabric on the inside. Inside the box the glasses were tangled in the Microfiber cleaning cloth, with the Goggles4U URL, and both sealed in a plastic bag with my name, Some codes and barcodes.

The frame came according to the pictures and description of the site, It fits perfectly in my face, knocking down the myth that you can't buy glasses online, mantra repeated in any local optical, which cannot compete with Goggles4U in terms of price. Yes, is cool go on optics and test several frames in the face, but definitely not something indispensable. I don't like having to choose the frame in the store in a short time. I can't spend hours choosing, check some models, ask for opinions, come back later, etc. How do I on the site. It's definitely easier to choose without sellers around.

The building seemed well made. The top and center of the lens is well aligned with the frame, so that the excesses, due to the thickness of the lens, stays mainly at the back, as expected. The cut of the lenses also looks very well done and flawless, as well as cutting the nylon line.

Goggles4U also included an extra pair of platelets in the bag, that certainly is a great extra, because as they yellow quickly with the time, whatever the make/model of glasses, the Exchange can give a survival to the frame. Some local optical also make this exchange for free, so it’s good that Goggles4U thought of a counterpart.

Still didn't get the new pair of glasses to check the recipe. But as I'm seeing perfectly with him I believe everything to be correct.

Coming off a bit in the Sun, even on a partly cloudy day, fast lenses are already starting to get dark. Apparently they don't darken as much as the Transitions from my last pair of glasses da Goggles4U, but Dim enough to provide a little more comfort. They also return to transparency to quickly return to a closed environment.

I've been wearing my new pair of glasses from Goggles4U for just over two weeks now. And what I can say is that I'm pleased with them. Nothing like a couple of new lenses. The frame, Despite having no brand, doesn't seem to owe nothing for many famous brand frames.

Even in times of real devalued thanks to the insistence of Dilma not resign, Goggles4U still shows itself as a good alternative to get a pair of glasses without spending a lot. With simpler lenses, a pair of glasses can leave for just $ 14,12, somewhere around £ 55,00 today, freight and IOF included. As much as the local optical do promotions, a price so I never saw.

In the case of my glasses, I didn't spend anything because I had the store credit. But even if you were to buy a pair just like again today, with a metal frame, with nylon cord and photochromic lenses, would pay at Goggles4U only about R $ 160,00 with shipping included. This price is also unimaginable in local stores, What I would want at least double that just through the lens, even if it weren't of Essilor, they tend to be the most sold and somewhat more expensive.

Very good your blog, congratulations, I’ve been going for some time and whenever there’s something new I’ll stop by.
I'm trying to order a pair of eyeglasses in Goggles4U and would like to take some questions about if possible.
I have Hyperopia with the following degrees:
Far: Right and left eye +1
Near: Right and left eye +3,25
I chose the model SKU 118486-C and entering the lens selection selected “Progressive Lenses”, in Sphere selected +1 for OD and, the problem is in the Add that in my case, I think I, It would be +3,25 for OD and OS and there only goes up to +3. In PD has two values, Single and Dual, with I don't know what they mean I chose the Single and similarly, in Prism chose “on the”. Sorry so many questions, But if you can help me I will be immensely grateful.

Hugs

You're absolutely right, did a search and found a good explanation of it here: http://www.medicodeolhos.com.br/2010/07/entenda-receita-dos-seus-oculos.html, where I understood that some doctors cast the value to Add and other, as in my case, indicate the value added to the ball as you said. Plus I found some old recipes of other doctors who confirm this thesis.
Thanks for the prompt reply and for the great help you're providing.
