Recently a Seagate HD 1, 5 TB that was on the PC of my parents decided to retire. Suddenly the computer started more. Sometimes the HD or appeared listed in the BIOS screen, the times appeared but Windows not carried. I did some tests and found the death of HD.
For a quick replace, the chosen was the HD Seagate Desktop HDD 2000GB ST2000DM001. Installation is made, Windows 10 reinstalled and activated without any major problems. The computer was upgraded to Windows 10 from a Windows 7 original. The hardware was recognized on resettlement, even with the return of HD, and activation was automatic.
For reinstalling downloaded the ISO of Windows 10 Professional using the Media Creation Tool. It was day 02/08/2016. I was wondering if the version that would be downloaded would be the Anniversary Update (version 1607 or 10.0.14393, and also known as Threshold 2), that was released publicly on the same day. There was no indication that it was or it wasn't. But when I completed the installation I noticed that the new version was even.
By the time the HD Seagate Desktop HDD 2000GB ST2000DM001 has been behaving well and I hope it lasts a long time.
Positive point also to the Crashplan, even in the free version makes the daily backup of important documents and files, so that all were recovered after the installation without any major problems. I had to just reinstall the software, because the settings of most of them were recovered.
