R-Type for the Master System was released by Sega in 1988. It was originally released for arcade, by softwarehouse Japanese Irem. Then it was ported to several systems, including Master System. Eventually winning several sequels and became a classic style side scrolling shoot-em-up, or “nagesar game”, as they are popularly known in Brazil.
The version of Master System It is beautiful. With 4 Mbits, and shows the potential of the console, both the graphics and the audio. In addition to the audio PSG, this is one of the games which also has FM audio, that only the Japanese had access at the time. It is a very difficult game, but quite fun. There is a flickering considerable on the screen when there are many elements, but it is forgivable and it does not affect gameplay.
R-Type It is certainly in many lists of the best games Master System. He was also one of the first games I played in my first Master System, there around 1991. Moreover, It was just the fourth game I played in Master System. As I remember it? Explain. When my parents gave me my first Master System, ele veio com Alex Kidd in Miracle World na memória e Summer Games (California Games) in cartridge. Foram os dois únicos jogos que joguei por algum tempo. Até que em um belo sábado, meus pais saíram e voltaram com dois cartuchos alugados: Choplifter and R-Type, conforme recomendação do pessoal da locadora. The Choplifter foi para o console primeiro, and the R-Type then. E gostei muito de ambos. Devo te-los alugado novamente mais algumas vezes.
R-Type It was released in Brazil by Tec Toy. His Cape can be seen below, as extracted from the Tec Toy Wiki:
And now my main contribution to the community: the flyer that Tec Toy sent me with the tips of R-Type there in years 90, time of late Master Club.
The booklet follows the traditional format: are two sheets of solid form with dot matrix printing. It contains the game's plot, e três truques muito interessantes, que permitem obter invencibilidade, créditos extras e acessar o sound test Match. Em seguida há dicas para passar pelos chefes de cada fase. Por último temos os controles do jogo. Há alguns errinhos de ortografia e digitação para completar o charme da peça. 🙂
Check out the brochure with the tips of R-Type Digitized:
To complete, I did a little video demonstrating the R-Type, all the original hardware and no emulation, as costume. In the video show both the game with PSG as sound with FM sound, and spend some time in the sound test to show how each song was.
The equipment used for this capture was:
- Elgato - Game Capture HD60 - For capturing video in digital format and Full HD 60fps.
- Sega Genesis -the American model Mega Drive, console that has the original processor Master System, allowing to play the Master without emulation games.
- Mega Everdrive X7 - The cartridge "magic" that reads my games from a simple SD card and works just like the original cartridges, including games Master System.
- Framemeister XRGB Mini - doing the upscale to the image Mega Drive para 1080p Full HD.
- SCART RGB cable for Mega Drive 1 / Sega Genesis 1 / Mega Drive 2 by Tec Toy with Stereo Audio (Pack-a-Punched!) - Leading to RGB, best image possible to extract a Mega Drive / Master System com hardware original, for the Framemeister.
I'm rescuing this series Tec Toy tips, preservation of my materials Tec Toy after more than two years, as finally queue reviews it is empty. Part of the blame for this is the Post Office, that is more than a dozen of my packages stuck in Curitiba :/ , but I have also endeavored to put more items in less time.
this return, continue making videos and screenshots showing the games and talking a bit about them, so that readers can reminds them. I think not much fun just putting brochures tips. Only I will not put the transcripts of the leaflets because they are quite laborious to be made.
