[Review] Cabo SCART RGB Packapunch PlayStation 1 (PS1) c/ sync on luma + Guncon port 3.0m e Cabo EuroSCART totalmente blindado macho-macho 2.0m – Retro Gaming Cables

The Cabo SCART RGB Packapunch PlayStation 1 (PS1) c/ sync on luma + Guncon port 3.0 m and the EuroSCART fully shielded cable male-male 2.0 m were purchased from Retro Gaming Cables for use with my OSSC and with my Playstation One.

Motivation and choices

With the acquisition of OSSC, I had to acquire also the EuroSCART fully shielded cable male-male 2.0 m to connect it to my gscartsw switch. I even bought a cable a lot cheaper on eBay, which I have already spoken here in Skooter Blog. But after I finished solving buy this from Retro Gaming Cables to guarantee.

Opted for the EuroSCART fully shielded cable male-male 2.0 m because 2 m seemed a good size and he has as much armor as conductors cable internally.

To take advantage of the freight, that's not cheap, got also the Cabo SCART RGB Packapunch PlayStation 1 (PS1) c/ sync on luma + Guncon port 3.0 m to replace my SCART RGB cable for Playstation One (Sync-on-Luma) com upgrade para Multicore Coax.

The replacement was made for two reasons: 1) the previous cable had needed a repair and the patched plug got a bit ugly; 2) the cable length was no longer enough after a few changes of position of equipment I.

Chose the Cabo SCART RGB Packapunch PlayStation 1 you have individual shielding of conductors in red (R), green (G), blue (B), SYNC, Audio left, audio right and also DC signal that activates the selection of RGB in equipment that receives signal. The cable ready has 1,8 metro, but are also made custom cables with 2,5 and 3,0 meters. I chose logo by 3 meters to ensure future changes.

Sync on Luma means the luminance signal will be sent as a sync signal. Is the best option for the Playstation One, because he does not have a separate sync signal (CSYNC) available in the output, and the luminance signal includes the synchronization signal.

Another option would be to send composite video signal, that is a worse choice, as well as luminance information there is also the chrominance signal along with the sync signal.

There is also cable option that has a circuit to extract the synchronizing signal of the luminance signal. But I think unnecessary since OSSC and Framemeister already have these internal circuits.

Por fim, I chose the version with the Guncon door to some possible future use with CRT RGB, allowing the use of guns GunCon, using the composite video signal.

Unboxing

The Cabo SCART RGB Packapunch PlayStation 1 (PS1) c/ sync on luma + Guncon port 3.0 m and the EuroSCART fully shielded cable male-male 2.0 m They came in a box with the logo of Retro Gaming Cables, wrapped with plastic. Inside the cables involved in a bubble came.

At first startled me thickness Cabo SCART RGB Packapunch PlayStation 1 (PS1) c/ sync on luma + Guncon port 3.0 m. I found it fine for one Packapunch. They would have sent me the wrong cable? But then I remembered that Retro Gaming Cables now manufactures its own cables (or is fabricated cables in their specifications). With this they need only have the 8 drivers + mesh required for a SCART RGB console. My out above It was done with some more generic cable, that has extra drivers that are not used.

Regarding EuroSCART fully shielded cable male-male 2.0 m, apparently it's not really made for Retro Gaming Cables, it has no indication on the cable itself as the Cabo SCART RGB Packapunch PlayStation 1. I think Rob purchase these most common cables on the market and resells.

Compared to the SCART 21 double shielded gold plated pins 1.5m to acquire on eBay, the EuroSCART fully shielded cable male-male 2.0 m and it has a similar thickness.

Final Considerations

I'm satisfied with the two cables purchased on Retro Gaming Cable: the Cabo SCART RGB Packapunch PlayStation 1 (PS1) c/ sync on luma + Guncon port 3.0 m and the EuroSCART fully shielded cable male-male 2.0 m. The price is not the best, but with that level we are sure to be getting the best image possible in the classic consoles, with minimal losses and interferences in the analog signal from the console to the OSSC.
