Post office and the rascality “absent recipient” invented not to pay compensation of Sedex and Sedex 10

I already commented here on the Skooter Blog about a Sedex I received a day late and who invented a status of “incorrect address”, probably to escape the delay for compensation, because the address was correct.

Recently it occurred again, this time with a Sedex 10. invented a “Recipient Ausente”. Check tracking information:

The Sedex 10 is a mode of freight in which the package must be delivered by 10:00hs the day after posting. If it doesn't, the Post Office must indemnify the customer. The indemnity is 30% if the package arrives between 10:15hs e 11:00hs, and 100% if the package arrives after that.

In the case of my package, delivery was made at 10:18hs, in other words, already give the right to compensation for 30%. But then the hooliganism comes in: launched a “Recipient ausente. There will be a new delivery attempt” to 09:56hs.

But that status couldn't be true? Not! Has no way, because my condo has concierge working 24/7. There is always someone to receive the package.

It is worth noting that in the past, compensation was much higher. But… it is easier to reduce the amount of damages than to improve the service. So Correios chose the easiest way. And yet they still screw up not to pay, even though compensation is cheaper.

Also note that my account is not the only one. There are many similar reports, in many different cities. People who stayed at home all day and were surprised by the “absent recipient”. It is even difficult to know if this is something that comes from the distribution centers or if it is an orientation that comes from above.

Unfortunately, the sender is the one who needs to claim compensation, and the store in question refused to take any action. Nor is it due to the 18 minutes that honestly made no difference, but rather for channeling.

Moreover, complaining at Correios is a useless task. The system almost always fails to register the complaint, and when it doesn't fail, take a long time to respond and send an automatic response unrelated to what was claimed.

PS: While writing this article I went to check the tracking code again and saw that they exchanged the message “Recipient Ausente” to “Postman not met”. It is very expensive…
