[Review] Kit c / 4 Fan – Cooler Master Masterfan MF120L Blue 120mm 12cm LED Azul

The Kit c / 4 Fan – Cooler Master Masterfan MF120L Blue 120mm 12cm LED Azul was purchased for use with a Gabinete Corsair Mid-Tower Carbide Series 100R CC-9011075-WW. This case comes with only one fan on the back, but there is room for another four, two at the top and two at the front.

At first I wouldn't even install these fans Additional, because the case already has a cooling that appears to be sufficient for use without overclocks or other, but I didn’t like how there were huge holes in the top of the case, allowing easy entry of dust. I ended up deciding to install then dust filters and fans.

I have an office at Cooler Master there 7 years, at HAF X, and he has all fans originals that never gave any problem, so I imagined that Cooler Master would be a good brand of fans to put on the Carbide Series 100R. The Cooler Master it also has good value for money, because brands like Corsair or Noctua tend to be much more expensive.

I immediately discarded the RGB models that are more expensive and need a controller (or compatible motherboard) to control colors, because I didn't want to spend it. LED models, on the other hand, they don't cost more than ordinary models and look beautiful, even more considering that the Carbide Series 100R has an acrylic window on the side.

The fans Masterfan MF120L are available in three colors: blue, red, it's white. At the time of my purchase I only found red and blue, so I opted for the blues.

Unboxing and installation

Each Cooler Master Masterfan MF120L Blue came in its individual box. Inside was the fan, erasers with adhesive and screws.

The erasers must be glued around the fixing holes, on the side that the fan will be fixed, avoiding direct plastic contact with the case. In this way, vibration and noise are reduced. The screws are screw type.

Each Masterfan MF120L has your serial number on the box and also an adhesive on the wire. They are guaranteed 2 years, so it is recommended to be careful not to accidentally tear the sticker.

Installation was relatively simple. In the case of the upper part of the cabinet, the screws that accompany the fans realized. In the case of the front, I had to use long screws that came with the Carbide Series 100R. However, Corsair it was hand-made and only sent 4 their, so I had to use only two on each fan. But they were apparently quite fixed despite that.

On the motherboard that is currently on this PC there are only connectors for four case fans. Like the fan that comes with the Carbide Series 100R was already connected to a, I connected three others and one was left out. This PC has a Front panel Multifunctional Akasa AK-ALL-02SL, that has connectors for 3 fans, so I connected what was missing in it.

How should i make one upgrade on this PC soon I didn't even worry about speed or adjusting some kind of speed control in the BIOS (if you have) or something. When updating my main PC I must put my current motherboard (ASUS Z87-Deluxe), along with processor and memory on that second PC, and there I will configure the ASUS Q-Fan system to control the speed.

It is worth mentioning that these fans have connectors of 3 pins, in other words, there is a grounding pin, a pin carrying direct current, and another to inform the current rotation for the motherboard or controller. For the fans to rotate at a speed below the maximum, a lower voltage is used. But, a lower voltage will also result in the LEDs becoming weaker. Who wants a fan with variable speed without the LEDs being affected needs a model with 4 pins (PWM). This fourth pin sends pulses with duration proportional to the speed. They tend to be more expensive.

My first impressions, even without controlling speeds, is that Masterfan MF120L Blue are quiet even at full speed. Noticeable, but without disturbing. The lighting was also beautiful.

Final Considerations

I'm satisfied Kit c / 4 Fan – Cooler Master Masterfan MF120L Blue 120mm 12cm LED Azul.
