[Review] Layer Xiaomi Mi 9 TCiCPC Soft TPU Case – AliExpress

A Layer Xiaomi Mi 9 TCiCPC Soft TPU Case was acquired in AliExpress TCICPC Official Store, for use with my Xiaomi Mi 9. She came in package with four other products via AliExpress Direct, as I have shown here in Skooter Blog.

Motivation and Choice

This is the third cover I get for my Xiaomi Mi 9. I usually spend a lot of time on the same phone, so it’s normal that the covers don’t last as long and need to be replaced. Check out the reviews of the first two here:

I like the covers of Nillkin, but the first one became yellow with time, and the second one doesn't have as good protection for the front of the screen, besides being already biting.

Because of this, I decided to include the Layer Xiaomi Mi 9 TCiCPC Soft TPU Case in my application. With the Xiaomi Mi 9 having left the line Nillkin and several other manufacturers stopped making cover for it. I don't know what's up with these manufacturers who think that no one else will need a new cover after the phone goes out of line. So, a TCiCPC it was one of the few options available.

It is a transparent TPU case, with extra protection in the four corners, and protection that goes just above the screen level. The position of the buttons is embossed, and there is a “box” at the speaker output with holes directed forward. There is even extra protection at the rear for the cameras.

Unboxing

A Layer Xiaomi Mi 9 TCiCPC Soft TPU Case came in a zippered packaging zip-lock. It has a considerable thickness and seems to protect the phone well. The extra protection in the four corners looks very strong and is something I like. It also goes a little bit beyond the height of the screen, but practically at the height of the film. I believe it is enough to protect the screen and film in a fall.

The sides lack a little grip, they are smooth and do not help to hold the phone in your hands as safely as the covers that have a texture at the edges.

The sound output is interesting because it changes the direction of the output, avoiding the entry of dust and avoiding muffling the sound with your hand when holding the phone horizontally to play. That said, the sound gets a little more muffled that way. Nothing too worrying, but it is a noticeable difference.

The camera protection also left a little to be desired, it is taller than the lens set on the right (cell center), which prevents the lens from scraping when the cell phone is placed on some smooth furniture, for example. But, the left side of the protection (cell phone edge) is lower than the lens set, so there is a small chance of scraping the joint in a fall, for example. Furthermore, why did they write “Duo Camera” on the cover of a cell phone that has three lenses? Makes no sense…

Final Considerations

A Layer Xiaomi Mi 9 TCiCPC Soft TPU Case não é perfeita, mas é razoável. Tem uma boa proteção para quedas e deve me atender por algum tempo. Por ser de TPU transparente, é provável que fique amarelada e dura com o tempo, mas hoje em dia não há mais muitas opções de capa para Xiaomi Mi 9, unfortunately. Quando precisar de outra capa provavelmente comprarei essa da Xundd, se ela ainda estiver disponível.
