Hello Skooter Blog readers. Today I talk about a Transmitter Set + Receiver Extender HDMI-LINK MI LM-EX11 (LINK MI LM-EX11 HDMI Extender Transmitter + Receiver Set – Black) acquired on DX – DealExtreme.
The usefulness of the Transmitter Set + Receiver Extender HDMI-LINK MI LM-EX11 It is to take digital picture and sound in high definition over long distances using twisted-pair cables common (cat5e, cat6 or superior), the same as used in computer networks, which are much cheaper than long distance HDMI cables, and are much easier to crimp.
Eu I have spoken to a number of these here in Skooter Blog, but that did not make and bear maximum 720p and 1080i, nothing 1080p. The LM-EX11 da LINK-MI, though a little more expensive, is greater than, it supports 1080p, Apart from lower resolutions: 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i. This type of equipment seems to be the specialty of the LINK-MI, as can be seen in their website.
The operation of Transmitter Set + Receiver Extender HDMI-LINK MI LM-EX11 is quite simple. Simply connect the HDMI out leaving the image and sound generating equipment at the transmitter, connect a network cable (UTP - unshielded twisted pair, cat5e cat6 egg) which goes from the transmitter to the receiver and, finally, connect a second HDMI out the receiver to the TV / Monitor that will display the image / sound.
With my Transmitter Set + Receiver Extender HDMI-LINK MI LM-EX11 I made a point of slave Sky HD. Now the LINK-MI LM-EX11 takes sound / image from the main point to the first point and the slave another set takes sound / image from the first point to the second point slave slave. Would be better off with the slaves points of the main point and already use a single transmitter with more outputs and receivers in each slave point, but not I think of when planning the cabling, then the solution was to improvise.
Notice that, as Sky has a single HDMI output, I had to use a Splitter HDMI de 1 entrada para 4 saídas HUIYISHUN HDMI-400 HDMI v1.4 Full HD 1080p 3D (HUIYISHUN HDMI-400 3D 1080p Full HD HDMI V1.4 1 to 4 Splitter – Black + White (UK Plug / 100~ 240V)) to connect both the TV and the main point Transmitter Set + Receiver Extender HDMI-LINK MI LM-EX11 the same decoder. Then I used one second Splitter HDMI to duplicate the signal from the first slave point and plug it into both the TV and the first slave point in other HDMI extender set that goes to the second point slave. Confused? So expect me to design, see there now improved: 🙂
Of course, if you have to pull the other points slaves all the main point everything will be easier, and using only one Splitter HDMI. In my case is further complicated because the TV the first slave point is CRT, is not HD and has no HDMI input, but I'll leave to enter this update when you talk of the solution used, in another article, and a converter that involves HDMI to Composite Video (CVBS) and Stereo Audio.
Ah, if you want to change the channels from the slaves points recommend using Repeater / Extender Wireless Remote Control IR <-> 433MHz, to 200 metros Pakita PAT-433 (New 433MHz Wireless IR Remote Extender Repeater 200M). I have two of these too, an acquired on eBay, in other DX.
Both the transmitter when the receiver Conjunto Transmitter + Receiver Extender HDMI-LINK MI LM-EX11 They are active, in other words, are accompanied by multi-voltage power supplies must be connected to electricity for the whole work. This set uses um only after rede, unlike other models that use two cables, many of the very LINK-MI. I opted for the model of a cable only because the reports are that these models are usually best. The explanation is simple: each network cable has 8 drivers, while an HDMI cable has 19 drivers. It takes more engineering to match 19 conductors 8 than 16, so the models that use only one cable usually have a more well-designed and robust circuit to the multiplexing / demultiplexing. Furthermore, less than half of the HDMI drivers use high bandwidth, most of the drivers are for signaling, then it is a waste to let a cable more just for them. But the models that use two cables are cheaper and elaborate and support higher bandwidth, which can result in greater chances of HDMI support new standards in the future. Some models, including the LINK-MI, using two cables, They are available in DX.
In my tests, the image and sound of Sky HD transmitted by Conjunto Transmitter + Receiver Extender HDMI-LINK MI LM-EX11 They were perfect on the remote TV. I used a cat6 cable about 20 meters. Sky's image was perfect in all resolutions: 480i, 720p e 1080i. I also did a test amending the cat6 cable 20 meters with another cable cat5e of 20 using a meter Adapter Cable Network 8P8C Female to Female RJ45 Cat6 PowerSync PE-316WH (PowerSync PE-316WH CAT.6 RJ45 8P8C Female to Female Adapter for Network Cable – White) and Sky image remained perfect.
Since there are no channels broadcasting in 1080p, the test broadcast in 1080p was done with my Mega Drive III connected to SCART Video Converter + HDMI to HDMI (SCART + HDMI to HDMI Video Converter – Black), generating a 1080p image. A saída do Converter It was connected to the transmitter LINK-MI LM-EX11 and the receiver was connected to a Dell U2410 monitor. This 1080p was perfectly transmitted. In the picture was a bit blurred because Sonic is very fast :), but the image is perfect when seen live.
In short, the Conjunto Transmitter + Receiver Extender HDMI-LINK MI LM-EX11 proved to be a better solution than the the other set I acquired, it supports 1080p image (Full HD), though you do not need any of that for the Sky. It is interesting to note that the LM-EX11 supports including 3D images, which require a greater bandwidth, but that I did not get to test.
The box Conjunto Transmitter + Receiver Extender HDMI-LINK MI LM-EX11 It is the generic LINK-MI, but there is a sticker to designate the model of the product that is inside it. Inside we transmitter, receptor, the two power supplies, which are multi-voltage and has 5V output. The plug of the sources are the US standard (Type A). The instructions in English with the product. The instruction manual is also available on the LINK-MI site.
